This week’s guest:
Marina Beautiphly Partee is a motivational speaker, promotional spokeswoman, model, writer, comedian, advocate and actress.
Her inspirational testimony of how she has overcame sexual abuse, domestic violence, poverty and obstacles life had thrown her way has been told to thousands of people across the United States.
It has raised awareness and thousands of dollars for non-profits like Louisville Metro United Way, where she was featured in a commercial and radio advertising. Also for The Center For Women & Families, Louisville Dress For Success and The Anne E. Casey Foundation’s Louisville Asset Building Coalition.
She was also a Promotional Spokeswoman and model for these agencies as well. Her story even moved former President George W. Bush to include her in his speech as he honored her with the Freedom Corps Award that honors individuals who volunteer to help others. She wants to continue to be that message of hope to someone.by

This week on
My guest will be the author of “A White Man in a Black Man’s World” , Mr. Jerry Flanagan. He will discuss his journey and his book.
Jerry Flanagan was born in Los Angeles, California as Jerry Robinson Jr. in the 1960s. From a very early age he was exposed to television programs that reflected the perfect American families, music, movies, schools and businesses. He was seeking White privilege in America for the first forty years of his life because of how wonderful those early life media and education experiences made him feel.
White privilege is a term for societal privileges that benefit people identified as white in Western countries, beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. Two common examples would be having access to a higher education, modern day fashions and premium housing. Privilege can also be emotional or psychological, regarding security, comfort and personal self-confidence, or having a sense of belonging or worth in American society. His book, “A White Man in a Black Man’s World” follows his journey and struggles of wanting to be born white in America.
